2012 is almost over and the new year is on the way. I couldn't be more excited to usher in the new year. This past year has taught me so much and i have grown immensely within the last few months. I have gained so many great horses to the program this year and couldn't be happier with the direction that the breeding program is going. The rescue is on it's way and with the new year coming the rescue will be taking on some major projects in the new year and we will be looking to make some much needed expansion and improvements to the rescue facility.
All of the horses have a nice think winter coat and are well prepared for the winter months ahead. We have had a lot of snow and ground blizzards this past month and i finally have a good grasp on the rest of the hay coming in. With another storm waiting on the mountains across the valley it looks like we will have a snowy christmas after all. There is snow on the ground now, but with the wind that we get it is mostly blown around into big drift piles spread about the landscape. I hope we get some good ground cover to tuck the grasses in for a few months. The pastures are looking a bit over worn this time of year. The horses have been pulled off of the back lot and i am keeping them all in to just feed everybody instead of them out and about wandering around picking at the grass that is out there.
With this last snow storm that came in we have a good foot of snow on the ground. Of course the wind blows it into big drifts which are a lot of fun to break open every 10 minutes when i'm plowing. But i love the moisture that we are getting and the snow pack will really help with next years fields.
