So the beginning of the month has gone by without a hitch, well sort of. Nothing around here ever goes as planned or works out the way you intend it to. The rescues are going great, Vegas has finally made it home and has settled in well. She went right out on pasture after she passed quarantine and settled in like she never left. We are still looking for her perfect home, and will start training her until we can get her into the perfect place for her. The other rescues seem to be having a good go of it this winter. Of course the old ladies require some extra care and are burning through the grain this time of the year. But that's alright, whatever keeps them fat and happy.
Our old rescue mare Tinkerbelle is still here, we had some issues with the transport and getting her a layover in a middle point that we had to cancel the transport all together. We are still looking to mover her to her new home in New Mexico this upcoming week and are working on getting her to at least Alamosa, CO. Her new owner can pick her up there if we can get her that far. It really is too bad that it all feel through last minute. I had Tink all ready to go, paperwork in hand and had to pull the plug. I am sure that we will get her there eventually. We are all ready for that day to happen though.
I am getting the final details ready for our big trip to Minnesota this week, we are planning on heading out on Thursday or Friday and will be gone for 5 days going up to MN, down and over to Montana, down through Wyoming and back home. Three horses to pick up along the way. One to her new home outside the springs and the other two are coming to my good friend up this way. What a trip! I am really looking forward to it though. It's not every day that i get to go on an all expenses paid sort of vacation. And every chance i get to grab my dog and head across country i will take. My sister will be taking care of my horses while i am gone and i spent the majority of today setting her up with enough hay and grain so that all she has to do is toss it at every one twice a day and keep the waters chipped open. Not too much to ask, if you ask me.
The snow is falling again here and it is nice to have. We have been lucky enough to receive alot of moisture this winter, still could use more. But you can definitely tell that spring is just around the corner. There are days when the horses seem to care less about anything but being reckless. And it drives me crazy but at the same time it reminds me how blessed i am to be able to do what i love every day.

Vegas is back home and is now ready for re-adoption. She is a great mare with tons of potential, we just need to find the right fit for her. There is nothing wrong with her, her new owner needs to be aware that she is a project and needs training. She has never bit, bucked, struck, or kicked at us. Her adopter must fill out an adoption agreement. She will go with all of her papers too, this is a great prospect mare for trails, or the arena. If you would be interested in providing Vegas with a great home please contact me asap. Vegas will be going back into saddle training and get a solid 60 days on her before long. To be adopted as is for $500 to ensure she receives a home that understands she is not a cheap "trainers" horse. If you do not understand how to saddle, halter, or gentle a horse please do not contact me about Vegas. Likewise if you are looking for your first horse i will not adopt out Vegas to first time horse owners. Only experienced people will be able to adopt this mare.
Which brings be to another topic. I have had alot of people asking me lately about my horses (which i don't mind) But some of these people have not been up front with their knowledge base and when they come out to look at the horse they are less than prepared for what horses really entail. If you are a first time horse owner or a complete beginner rider, do not look at a green or unstarted horse. The only reason that the green and unstarted horses of mine are priced the way they are is because they have received a little amount of training and are simply not yet worth a whole pile of change. I offer my horses to approved homes through the rescue and the ones that sell through the ranch are priced the same way. It is simply not fair to offer a horse at a ridiculously high amount simply for the money involved. I am happy to assist anyone in finding the perfect horse for them, but if you approach a green broomare and try to jump on and take off, you will not be happy with what happens next. If you are a total beginner i am glad to help you and even train one of my horses that will work for you to be your dream horse. If you are interested in training your own horse, fantastic, but be up front with me about that so i know which horses to show you. Vegas is a good example of this, i do not like having to take back my horses, when i adopt out a horse i want that horse to be in that home forever, i don't even plan on seeing them again. But it has happened so many times before. And being in the horse business, whether it be through breeding, rescue, training, or selling, is really tough. And people like me in the horse world are constantly being told what we are doing is wrong. There are alot of supporters out there too, don't take what i say wrong.
Alright i am done ranting for now, catch you all later!
