I am so glad that even though summer time isn't officially underway, it pretty much is in full swing up here in South Park. The grass is all green and the horses are all fat and happy. I am happy too to see that my paint colt will be going to a wonderful home. If only i could move out the others to their forever homes. The little stud colt Gambler will be getting his hernia repaired and castrated here shortly and after that i expect he will find a home pretty quick. He sure has grown well over the winter months and looks handsome.
We rode Gunner a tiny bit the other day and well lets just say we survived, he is all attitude and stud. Really should have taken pics of that ride, oh well there is always next time. I have been ridding the new mare nearly every day and she is awesome even for a 1/2 draft, she isn't really afraid of going over under or through any obstacle. All we need to work on is the steering and stopping at fast speeds. Other than that she is a joy to ride.
Gunner has covered and settled all of the mares that i will be breeding this season, i'll know soon if the first timers took or not and if anybody else did too. Hopefully when it is all said and done i will have four babies on the ground next spring, three quarter horses, and one appy/qh cross. I decided not to bred the 1/2 draft, she can wait until next year, it just was not good timing for me to have her covered this up and coming month.
As you may have noticed i removed a mare from the training program, it was just too much to have to train her and all of the others when she wasn't really a priority for me at the time being. I believe i posted a pic of the bay colt that i have in training "Pez" he has come along so far since i started with him.
ALSO< my filly Dalilha has been clipped and bathed and all ready to go to her first show hopefully this up and coming Sunday. I do not know where we are going, it all depends on the grumpyness of the old truck out there. She handled herself very well, she still has some fuzz on her ears but we are going to tackle that later this week. We will be taking two horses to this show, so we shall see how it goes everyone is so ready to go, just have to get there first.
Finally, we are packing more and more to get ready for the big move, i never realized how much "stuff" i have regarding the horse items. I go through one box and find more "stuff". Making tons of trips to the goodwill with all of the thing i do not need anymore, trying to get down to the bare essentials before the move. If i find any horse things that i feel like parting with i will make sure to post them for sale.
"Till then....happy trails!
