So we made it through the new year in one piece, well mostly. I am surprised to say that the witch of winter this year has been the cold, not the snow. We've had temps in the 10 to 20 below range nearly every morning this last week. I brought home a large group of rescue horses on Saturday and boy am i happy to get them here. In that bunch were three mustangs, one for me and a good friend of mine took home the other two, and mare and foal who were abandoned, and a new broodmare that will also be hitting the show scene. It took alot of planning and headaches to get them from NM, but they finally made it. Not to mention the snow storm that we drove through over Monarch Pass that day. I think you can tell i was quite nervous about this whole thing. I will be posting their photos and more information on each of them tomorrow. The little filly that came home is just awesome, she is a spit fire and a real firecracker, i had her out today running around and driving her momma crazy.
Other than the new additions everybody is doing well, and that's all i can really ask for, a healthy herd and a stack of hay. I am looking for a pasture to put the ol' stud and his girls out on this spring and the search is.........long. I will keep looking for somewhere to put them. It will be nice to have a little more grass the graze this ever growing group on. Oh and did i mention that the mare i brought home to throw in the broodmare band is pregnant! She will be expecting her foal in a bitter cold March, i will make sure to have lots of blankets, hot bottles, and coffee available on that morning. All is well, life is good, and the horses are happy.
