It has been a rough couple of weeks here, we have not had the best go of it. Have lost two of our dear friends. The month has gone by rather quickly and each week seems to be going faster and faster. We arrived back from our trip to Minnesota in one piece. Started out on this 3000 mile journey in better spirits than we returned in. We ended up going through a monster storm coming out of Minnesota with our first horse loaded. Making what usually is supposed to be a 4 hour trip into an 11 hour drive through sleet, snow and high winds. I live in south park where we typically get winds over 70 miles an hour, so high winds that cause me to pull off the highway are pretty bad. I swear we almost lost the trailer a few times, it was relentless and of course that knocks your fuel mileage down to literally nothing. The first horse we picked up went well, she hauled decently well considering she hadn't seen a trailer in a number of years.
The second horse we picked up out of Montana and she did great. Loaded and hauled really well and was a welcome sight to the now snow blasted MN horse. All in all we spent 6 days in the truck, covered 7 states, over 3000 miles and 45 total hours of driving time. I am glad to be back home and to have these two with their new owners.
Sort of a training trip for all the hauling i will be doing here in a few weeks. Still have a few big hauls that i need to pick up and am going to be hauling all over CO this weekend. I don't mind it actually, i have spent alot of time on the road in my life so why not start making money to do it.

As some of you may know, we lost our little Lilly filly two weeks ago. She had a birth defect and had an anurism causing her to un-expectantly pass away. We are still shocked and very saddened by this and will miss her for a long time still. Lilly was such a treasure to us and will remain a very special filly to us all. I had big plans for her and am deeply upset over her sudden departure.
Not more than a week ago we also lost our old friend Gus, he was my cat of over 16 years. I grew up with him and no matter where my life took me, i always had him. He too is very missed, but i do take comfort in the fact that he was ready to go and i was able to say goodbye to him.
