All the babies have settled in well late this summer and i only have one colt left to sell. We have had a lot ot changes late in the summer but all are for the better. I am liquidating the herd and keeping only a handful of horses through the winter months. Of course i am going to hang on to Gunner, the riding horses and a few broodmares, but that is really it. We had a tiny little surprise last week when the pony that i rescued from auction last winter had a surprise foal. We named the little guy Joey and he is the cutest foal i thin i have ever seen. He weighed in at about 20 pounds when he was born and he needed to wear an adjusted doggy blanket to keep warm for a few days.
The rest of the horses are doing great as well. I have three mares bred for next year. Two Gunner foals and one paint baby from an outside stud. There will be a ton of outside foals by Gunner next season too, which is really exciting too. Everybody looks great and is in good health thus far. I am starting to get all the winter hay lined up again. That seems like a never ending thing in the horse world. Since i have to buy hay year round it would be nice to get some sort of break from it. But i suppose i wont, that is perfectly fine with me :D.
The round pen got a well needed remodel and is looking good now, the barn got some updates and the pens are all getting final touches for the winter months.
We are doing well, just getting ready for winter and preparing everything for the cold months to come. The herd numbers are way down and the hay bill will be drastically smaller this year than in years past. Other than that all is well, keep checking in, as baby Joey will have me and the camera very busy for the tie being.
