I know that it's not too uncommon for a good snowfall to come in May. But we have had a pretty mild winter thus far and with spring here, i would think that the majority of the snowfall is over. It has been snowing since yesterday and does not look like it is going to quite any time soon. I do appreciate the moisture and love the fact that this is giving the grasses a huge boost.
Yesterday early in the morning Peaches gave birth to a little sorrel filly. I named her Lilly, and have yet to set on a good papered name to register her with. She is adorable, and a real treat to have around after the winter we had. Luckily she came before this big snow storm that we have gotten, i have tucked mom and baby away in the barn until the snow lets up. You can see pics of her on the 2012 foals page.
All of the other critters are loving the snow, the mares were out yesterday running and playing in the snow. And little Dixie, well let's just say she is more a fan of the warmer weather. She isn't so little anymore, in fact at 5 months she's just about as tall as her mom. We don't really know what breed she is, but i'm guessing monster. I will have al of these updates on the Facebook page for the ranch soon enough.
Show season is upon us officially in Colorado and i am so excited to get back at it. The show horses are being conditioned and the newbies are learning the ropes. We are going to be at a local gymkhana next weekend, and a few shows the next few weekends after that. The trails this year are alot of fun with the minimal snowfall you can get higher on the mountains alot sooner than last year. The snow that just fel should melt fast, it's fairly warm outside, i may even head out in the middle of the week this week to get a good "no-tourist" ride in before the masses start to pack the trails.
Updates will continue to foll
