We also were able to place Whinny our rescue mare in a wonderful home, and miss Belle will be going to her home in a little over a week. With all of the big changes on horses around here i almost forgot to mention our newest ranch gelding, Hammer. He is the big bay roan that i have pictures of on here somewhere. He is a blast, like all the others, to ride and is a beast on the trails. This gelding is fearless and a true leader on the trails, he will works cattle like none other and can even pull out the pleasure jog if asked too.
All of the rescues are doing great. Bandit is growing like a weed and will be getting another corrective trim here shortly. Whinny went home last week and i am down to old TinkerBelle and little Bandit as far as rescues go. As soon as they both go home i will be opening up to two more rescues that need me until the summer grasses get here and i am able to take more in. Thankfully the pastures look like they will bounce back this year for a lush spring.
Hammer and Snooki will be going on a ride this weekend and we have been taking them out here and there to ride around. I really like how these two handle and the difference in their attitudes makes for an interesting trip every time.
The pregnant mares received their late 7 month and early spring shots today. Some of them were not happy campers but everybody behaved. With the recent outbreak of EHV-1 at the stock show you can never be too careful. And since i have rescue horses coming in and out all the time it is better to keep all of my horses vaccinated and up to date. The mares will be getting a booster of the Rhino vaccine in late february as well. It is quite comforting to have everything healthy and up to date, knowing that they will all weather the winter with ease. Of course every once in a while i get an old mare that needs a little extra attention, or a rescue that needs alot of extra attention. But i don't mind. I enjoy finding homes for each horse, whether it be with me or someone i have found for them, every horse deserves a good loving and knowledgeable home.
