I just received word that the rescue run for the sorrels will be taking place this weekend, so i will go out and get as many as i can and see what i can do for the rest of them. I will for certain be snagging a bunch of youngsters and possibly a 6 year old out of the group. let's hope that they have alot of trailers show up to get everyone out before they have to go to sale. I am trying to help out as many rescues as i can without becoming overwhelmed here. It is so hard to turn horses away simply because of hay and space to out them. This move will allow me to take on a few more and relly help out everyone that i had to turn away in the past. I am also looking to take on a business venture as well, it will be a great opportunity to get out and get the word out for the rescue and the ranch as well as provide hay and all the supplies for the rescue that we will need. This place will allow as well for an indoor arena and n outdoor arena and all the fun stuff that makes training so much easier to do.
I am hoping that the business venture turns out successful it is already a pretty profitable thing in its own right. The horses are all looking good and winter is on it's way. I am actually looking forward to the next couple of months. I personally love the fall and winter and enjoy the horses even more without all the flies and heat that summer gives us. Of course winter means that i am one step closer to Gunner's first foal crop being on the ground. Hopefully i have foals coming from May to August this next year with already a few pre-planned breedings in the mix and some bred back mares if everything is successful.
I have looked at panel pens and like them alot. I can do simple upgrades to them with old conveyor belting to make them sturdy and look nice to for working in. I am also planning a nice shelter or two in addition to what i have for the winter months I think i will want to use logs and build up my own. Those darn shelters are so expensive. It is worth it though to have the shelter delivered and not have to do any of the work. I am planning a 20'x60' for the big pasture, and a 12'x24' for the quarantine pen.
I am just so excited to see this rescue go where it has gone in the last few months and to think of everything i could accomplish in the future. Big things are coming in the future it is only a matter of time!
